The benefits of natural fillings and keeping cool during the hot summer nights

Summer has well and truly arrived which means more lovely sunshine and longer days but also that dreaded feeling of not being able to sleep when it’s hot. There is nothing worse than the uncomfortable feeling of being too warm when trying to fall asleep.   Keeping your room cool, drinking water before bed and using cotton bed linen are key factors too keeping cool on a hot summer’s night but these elements only work if you haven chosen a mattress with natural fillings.

A high quality hand made mattress which has been filled with natural fillings will ensure a comfortable night’s sleep.  A Somnus mattress has its own unique blend of luxurious upholstery fillings. Many of these materials are known for their breathability and temperature controlling properties, such as the Herdwick eco wool, tree silk-cotton and flax. Wool has great natural breathability with insulation and moisture-wicking properties. This means that in summer sweat and heat can be wicked through the layers of wool fibres, while in winter the layers trap warm air in and help to keep you warm.

It is important you get a good night’s sleep all year round, so don’t let the rise in temperate give rise to a bad night’s sleep.
